I am a PhD candidate in English at the University of Rochester, where I study nineteenth- and early twentieth-century American literature and silent film. My dissertation looks at representations of social reformers in several works of this period, considering their preoccupation with romance and domesticity and their discomfort with the practical, associational, and political realities of reform work. I am currently a fellow at George Eastman House, International Museum of Photography and Film, where I do research and writing for exhibitions of archival materials relating to motion pictures.
I joined the William Blake Archive as a project assistant in 2008, and my first task was to update a wing of the site called About the Archive, which includes the Archive’s account of its history, methods, and goals, among other information. At the moment, I am working on the Archive’s electronic edition of Blake’s illustrated manuscript of Genesis (ca. 1826-27). I also serve as Web master for the University of Rochester’s Department of English.
